On the 12th of June, during his stay in Bad Ragaz, St. Gallen, Justin Bieber sped through the streets in a golf cart. The 23-year-old star took no notice of traffic rules and drove through village roads following a few rounds of golf on the Bad Ragaz Golf Club green. Although his journey in the golf cart only went as far as the local BP petrol station, the carts are intended only for the brief stretch between the Grand Resort Quellenhof and the golf club.
Now Bieber's punishment has been confirmed: The St. Gallen public prosecutor's office has issued the singer with a 1000 Swiss franc fine, along with a conditional fine of 15'000 francs. The cantonal police of St. Gallen were able to confirm this, following Blick.ch's inquiry
Bieber acted negligently
As the golf cart had no authorisation for road traffic and therefore no number plate, the journey with the vehicle through Bad Ragaz is punishable. For that reason, Bieber acted negligently.
The Canadian Superstar was issued the punishment on the 4th of July. If he does not lodge a complaint by Monday, it will become legally binding.
Police have interrogated Bieber
According to Thomas Hansjakob, primary public prosecutor of St. Gallen, Bieber had to appear before the cantonal police of St. Gallen for interrogation during his stay in Switzerland and before his concert at the Bern Stade de Suisse on the 15th of June.
A BLICK photographer was able to capture Bieber's jaunt through St. Gallen with the golf cart and therefore documented a criminal offence. «The police feel it is necessary to press charges», Hanspeter Krüsi told BLICK.
The fine will likely be painless for Bieber: «Forbes» has estimated that his net worth is over 250 Million Dollars.
